God is still at work today

“What is God doing right now?”

We pray, but nothing seems to happen. Life doesn’t get better; instead, we feel more exhausted, and our hearts grow numb. We still have the assurance of faith in God, but sometimes we doubt whether He is truly with us at this moment.

In those times, we quietly but earnestly ask: Is God still at work?

Today’s world is a world of speed. What we want arrives with just a click, and responses come instantly. For us, accustomed to such a society, God’s “silence” can feel slow, distant, and frustrating. Yet the Bible clearly testifies: God never stops working. Even when we don’t feel it, even when we don’t see it, He is still working.

Silence is not neglect; it is preparation.

John 11 begins with the news of Lazarus’s illness. “Lord, the one You love is sick.” Martha and Mary earnestly call for help, but Jesus does not act immediately. Instead, He stays where He is for two more days. Meanwhile, Lazarus dies. On the surface, this situation seems like despair itself.

They prayed but nothing happened. They believed but the situation worsened. Yet Jesus interpreted this event by saying, “This sickness will not end in death, but is for God’s glory.” Jesus revealed His identity as the Son of God through the power of resurrection that conquers death, not just through healing sickness.

What feels like silence is actually the time when God’s plan is unfolding. God prepares through delay and works in silence. He is painting a bigger picture beyond our understanding.

Faith works even when unseen.

When prayer feels emotionless and worship leaves us unmoved, when we question the authenticity of our faith, we grow discouraged. But faith is not emotion. Faith walks forward even when unseen, and clings even when unfelt.

The faithful in Hebrews 11 died without receiving what was promised, yet they looked forward joyfully from afar and held on to the promise. Their faith was a decision, not feelings; it was grounded in promises, not circumstances.

Our faith today is the same. Even when the Word feels distant, even when prayers seem empty, God is still working. Faith is the power to trust and choose that truth.

God’s hand is still moving.

Joseph was unjustly sold into slavery, imprisoned, and endured a long season of silence. Yet all those events were part of God’s grand plan to save Israel. David spent lonely days tending sheep in the fields, but that time was preparation to become Israel’s king. God still works this way.

Even when time seems paused to our eyes, God is tirelessly accomplishing His plans. The most important truth for us living today is this: even when we don’t feel it, God is still working. Faith begins with the courage to interpret His silence as trust.

When answers to prayer delay and reality shakes, we must hold fast even more firmly. His hand is still at work, reaching toward your life.
